Redoable 1.2 has just been released. Head to the Redoable homepage to find out whats new and to make sure you download the latest copy. enjoy.
Three weeks of work and my first WordPress theme is ready to be released. It is primarily based on the popular K2 for WordPress, Unwakeable by Tyler Longren and inspired by many, many other WordPress blogs out there. My goal was to produce a theme that had everything that I wanted in it, Unwakeable was close which is why I chose to use it as my starting point.
I have incorporated a host of changes/improvements, adding functionality, different structure and support for even more plugins without the need for further template modification. Some of the changes/improvements I have made include:
- All-new blog layout and styles.
- Two-column design with a sidebar that is Sidebar Module/Widget ready.
- Optional Sidenotes on the homepage.
- Optional sidebar modules to display favourite music, movies etc.
- Support for a dozen plugins without the need to modify any files.
- and more…
So what does this theme look like in action…well you are looking at it right now. Everything you see in the sidebar is included in the sidebar by default, all you need to do is install and activate the relevant plugins, and set a couple of options in the admin panel.
There is a complete list of tested and supported plugins on the Redoable homepage. There are also download links for each so that you can get them if you don’t already have them installed. I have also modified a couple of the plugins to suit Redoable, these modified plugins are also available.
Visit the Redoable homepage for more information.
I just visited another person who has downloaded your theme and their website has your affiliate ID in the same large advertisement. Is this by design or do the people understand they ar advertising for you? I am sure some would not mind but are they aware of this or could they be using their own affid?
Those that even know what a Spread Firefox Affiliate Id is, should have enough knowledge to be ware that they can change it themselves.
For those that don’t I don’t see what the problem is exactly. I don’t make anything out of the link being there. Its sole purpose it hopefully stop people using horrid browsers such as Interne tExplorer 6.

Yes, its ‘by design’. Several people asked how they could remove it, and I told them. Other have removed the Firefox ad and are using it for Google ads. The next version of Redoable as an option to allow this ‘ad’ to be turned off via the admin panel.
Whats the problem with people advertsing for me? Afterall this theme provided FREE. Besides, I don’t get any financial benefit from the Firefox ad.
Users that actually know what a “spread firefox affiliate id” is, should be capable of changing it themselves, if they want.
From an audience standpoint I wanted to share with you that nothing turns me off faster from a site than to be told how I need to change something. I am your demographic but yet I hit the back button anytime I have seen this clever suggestion popping out at me from websites. Corporate websites understand it’s their job to cater to the audience not vice versa and FWIW, I prefer the browser I use.
Browsers that aren’t standards compliant turn me off.
From a designer standpoint the ad’s quite large and obtrusive and I have to scroll horizontally on a 1024 wide resolution.
The ad it the same width as the rest of the page, but I will admit that overall the theme is just a little too wide for 1024×768. That simply my fault because I’m so used to working at 1280×1024. I’ve got a ‘restructure’ planned in a couple of months to try and address some layout problems, I will include the slight reduction in page width.
