Redoable 1.2 has just been released. Head to the Redoable homepage to find out whats new and to make sure you download the latest copy. enjoy.
Drum roll please Mr. Music, Redoable 1.1 is here! Ok, there a few reasons why it was delayed longer than first anticipated. The main reason was that I decided to hold off until WordPress 2.1 had been released so that I could make sure that it was compatible. In the last week I’ve spent a fair amount of time checking that everything works ok in both 2.0.x and 2.1. If you come across anything that you think isn’t working correclty just let me know.
The other major reasons were the number of bug fixes and new features that have been included in this release. Some of the new features include Livesearch now works, choice of two different single post layouts, and a preview of the dynamic style feature which allows you to change between dark and light colour schemes from the admin area.
On top of the extra features, support has also been added for several new plugins. More details about the features of Redoable 1.1 are included below. Also included is some information about upgrading and/or installing Redoable on your blog. If you’re ready to go you can download Redoable 1.1 now.

Keep reading for further details of the new features, bug fixes and plugin support that have been included in Redoable 1.1.
New plugin support
Support for these plugins has been added.
- iMP Download Manager — keep track of downloads from your site.
- Quoter — give usrrs the ability to quote text in the comments.
- Subscribe to Comments — allow users to subscribe to comments on posts and pages.
- Spam Karma 2 — defend against the evil spam overlords…
- wp-recent-links — keep a link log of sites that you visit.
Bug fixes
These are just some of the bugs that have been fixed in Redoable 1.1
- LiveSearch now works. It is suggested that if you are using Alex King’s Share This plugin, that you upgrade to the latest version which is 1.4.
- Numerous css fixes and changes to correct some alignment and positioning problems on selected pages. Including styles around the Gregarious plugin and the position of the Share This plugin.
- Due to the changes in the way that WordPress 2.1 handles categories for both links and posts, the sidebar and all modules using categories have been modified to work with both WordPress 2.0.x and WordPress 2.1
- An additional loop (searchloop.php) has been added to help with the handling of the LiveSearch results.
- Float problem with sidebar modules has been rectified.
New features
Features for everyone.
- LiveSearch, and the ability to display search results in either the body of your page or in the sidebar.
- The dynamic style option allowing you to choose between dark (default) and light colour schemes from the admin area.
- Additional support for the previously mentioned plugins.
- The option to choose between two different methods of displaying post meta data on the single post view. You have the option to display it the sam eas on the homepage with the meta data under the post title, or in a seperate column to the right hand side of the post.
- Addition of support for my Ultimate Category Cloud plugin on the Archives page, which will display a Coloured and Weighted cloud of your categories when the plugin is active.
- The search box will be displayed using the special Safari search box when using Safari. When not using Safari the search box will be styled differently, and in the case of Firefox users it will have a similar ’rounded’ look to the Safari search box.
For full details of all changes in this release please see the included changelog.txt with the Redoable 1.1 download.
Exisiting issues
- Some people are experiencing a problem where the comments and permalinks are all referring to the incorrect posts. As yet I have been unable to replicate this problem, and it doesn’t seem to happen on everyones blog. It could be related to the use of different permalink structures, but as yet I don’t have a solution for it.
- Sidebar overlap issue. This hasn’t been completely fixed but the sidebar will now overlap on top of the footer instead of disappearing behind it when there is only a small amount of page contents.
- LiveSearch doesn’t seem to work with custom permalinks. This has also been reported by other users of K2 (which Redoable is based on), but as yet no-one has had a good answer.
Installation
Download the zip file. Extract, then upload the Reodable 1.1 folder to your wp-content/themes folder on your web server. Goto the presentation section in your admin, and select Redoable 1.1. Set your options in the Redoable options panel. Enjoy.
Upgrade
It should be possible for you to upgrade from Redoable 1.0 to 1.1 by copying the new files over the old ones, however I recommend that you upload the Redoable 1.1 folder and leave your Redoable 1.0 folder intact. Upload the new Redoable 1.1 folder to your wp-content/themes directory on your web server, and then select Redoable 1.1 from the presentation menu in your admin area. Which ever method you choose, you should not lose any of your settings from Redoable 1.0, unless you choose the “uninstall” option. As always if you’re worried, just make a backup beforehand.
WordPress 2.1 Support
As mentioned I have tried my best to ensure that everything works ok with both WordPress 2.0.x and the new WordPress 2.1. The only thing that I highly recommend is that you check any of you exisiting plugins and update if there is a newer version available. Many plugin authors are in the process of updating their plugins to be WordPress 2.1 compatible.
Should you come across any compatibility problems with WordPress 2.1 (or WordPress 2.0.x) please leave a message in the Support forums, and I will try and fix it asap. In fact, if you come across any problems what-so-ever, leave me a message in the support forum and I will get back to you asap.

I simply wanted to say that I love the theme. I love every single thing about it and have absolutely no complaints, all the errors I have encountered have been plugin compatibility related and after doing a long overdue update on all of them, it has been nothing but bliss.
Really great theme! Thank you for this great job!
I’ve just installed this and 2 little questions:
1. In the admin panel there ist “Blog” and “The text on the first tab in the header navigation.” Is there a header navigation with tabs? I have only the logo and than start at once the first posting.
2. In the single page post the little box right handed has at your blog “share this” — have I to install a plugin for this feature?
Nevermind, I did nothing but add 2 new entries and suddenly it’s back to pulling in the comment form from other posts. This is frustrating.
Damn, looks like its time to start looking for answers again…

Thata great to hear Tom, hopefully it will help a lot of people.
So how can I get each header above each post 2 lines instead of 3 (vote, share it, category, tags, etc.)
It requires a slight modification to the postratings plugin file.
In postratings.php around line 50 you will find the the_ratings() function.
You will need to change each div to span in this function, so that it will display the post ratings inline.
Hope that helps.
I’m having the problem of comments being applied to a different post than the one being commented on, has this been resolved?
Yes, unfortunately this has been reported by a number of users, but the exact reason as to why it is happening is yet to be found. The code that handles comments has not been modified, as far as I can remember, from the original K2. I’m stumped, I cannot reproduce this on any of the three installations I’ve got, so if anyone has any ideas please post them in the support forum.
How simple would it be to have the entire theme centered instead of hugging the left margin?
In theory it can be done fairly easily, except the way that I have positioned the sidebar makes it hard than first thought. I will try to rectify this for a future release.
How do you enable the third column? I only see options for one sidebar.
The ‘third column’ is only used for the sidenotes at the present time. I has not been ‘enabled’ to be used with modules yet. This will possibly be introduced in a future release.
You can manually add content to the “third column” by editing the sidebar2.php file.
I just installed the ELA plugin, activated it in the Redoable options, and clicked that button to set up ELA for Redoable… but nothing happens… Shouldn’t the Archives page link have to appear on top right?
If you haven’t already, try these steps:
1. Activate the plugin on the plugins page
2. Setup ELA by clicking the button on the Redoable options page.
3. Make sure you have the “Enable Redoable Archives page” checkbox ticked.
4. Make sure you hit “Update options“
5. Hopefully it works.
If you have any other trouble have a look at comment 42 above, or post it in the Support Forum.
Hi again!
I’m just having some problems now trying to have the Extended Live Archives (ELA) working.
I just installed the ELA plugin, activated it in the Redoable options, and clicked that button to set up ELA for Redoable… but nothing happens… Shouldn’t the Archives page link have to appear on top right?
Question. I see that Redoable has an ‘uninstall’ feature. This is the first time I have seen a theme with one. In the past I was simply able to select another theme and remove it from “/wp-content/themes”.
Does Redoable make any major changes to an existing blog (database or otherwise) that requires the uninstall? Or can it be removed in the above mentioned manner as well? Thanks.
Redoable adds some additional options to the wp-options table in your database, this is something that was carried over from K2. The uninstall feature just clears those values. You do not need to use the uninstall if you don’t want, you can just change themes as you always have.
I notice also that under “Dynamic CSS — Beta feature” when selecting “white” nothing changes. I realize this is beta but I thought I’d just pass on the word. Thanks and keep up the great work dean!
It should work? I demonstrated it to a friend on this site yesterday, and I know of at least one other site that is using this option on a live blog (http://www.japtard.com/beta/). You have to select “enable dynamic css” and select white from the drop down. Leave a question in the support forum if you have any further problems.
first of all I’d like to say this is a very beautiful and nice theme. But some of my users/visitors are using Internet Explorer and do not see the rightcolumnheader div in the upper right corner. They also get an Javascript error. IE Version less than 7 are affected. IE 7 is ok.
Is this a bug or a feature? Maybe to get rid of the IE Users…
Yeah, sorry, it is a bug. Its one of the thing that I still haven’t been able to solve. The menu displays fine in just about every browser, except IE.
Can you provide more details about the javascript error and place them in the Support forums, and I will have a look at it.
1. When i tried to install “wp-recent-links” then the site did die. Please let me know how this is done?
I don’t know why it would have died, sorry. If you can wait a couple of days I will be releasing my modified version of the plugin, which should work perfectly.
2. I am unable to configure the Articles page as well. Please do suggest me how it is done?
My suggestion for the archives page (if you haven’t already tried this), is to delete the page that has been automatically created, and then create a page normally, making sure that you set the page template to page-archives. This worked for me on one of my test installs, and with someone else who had a similar problem previously.
3. If i want to change the colors used in the site, where does this have to be done? Please do let me know if you can help me with the same.
All the colors are set in the style.css file, the colours are little spread out, but it can be done, as you can see on these two sites:
http://www.karlbitz.com/
http://www.agamum.net/blog/
it should be K2 0.9plus
