Dear Diary

Dear Diary is a super simplistic theme for WordPress. It is best suited to a basic journal or diary where content is king and the theme should stay mostly out of your way.

  1. Is this available for wordpress.com blogs?

  2. any chance making this for blogger?

  3. thank you so much for this theme! i’ve been looking for a simple theme everywhere, and i’m so happy to have finally found this! it’s wonderful.

  4. I appreciate your efforts on this “minimalist” theme. It’s a useful and welcome switch from all the graphics intensive themes out there.

  5. style.css
    Line 29: pre,code,kbd,samp,tt{font-family:monospace;*font-size:108%;line-height:100%;}

    Is that star-sign some super-trick-selector, or a typo?

    • It isn’t a typo, it is part of the YUI CSS reset that’s included at the top of the stylesheet. I think that the *font-size property is ignored by most good browsers (because its technically invalid) but it is read by browsers like IE6.

  6. Mr, you saved me. This is beyond awesome, it’s the theme I’ve been waiting on someone to make, and never would have thought of myself.
    You Sir, have a beer coming in through PayPal.

  7. Dean,

    Wonderful job on this theme. I was wondering, is there any way to put a “Leave a Comment” link at the end of each post on the main page? I plan to use mostly shorter posts that won’t have “more” jumps, and so people aren’t likely to go to a post’s individual page unless they get an invitation of some kind. Ideas?

  8. Hi Dean,

    Just implemented your fine Dear Diary theme on a poetess friend’s site. for tidyness I remove your credential at the bottom. I hope you don’t mind.

  10. Could you, by any chance, do a little more css work on the implementation of the default WordPress gallery feature? The don’t come out very well yet.

  11. Hi, thanks for making this theme, I love it. Only, I have a small problem, I was trying to made the sidebar (and the layout in general) a little wider, but even with a wrapper that’s 900px wide and the posts left the same as they are in the default, any sidebar width over 150px wide makes the sidebar go to the bottom, is there a way to fix this, please? :) I’m probably just missing something.

  12. Hi there, I’ve just stopped by your site and found that this site is awesome including some projects you created. I wonder how could a WordPress engine theme be like these. I then read your colophon page and found that you list your plugins used in this beautiful site. But hey, it seems that you forgot to insert those list so that what left is only: insert list here.

    I would like to beg if it will do to ask you to complete the list of plugins you use (e.g. the review page which I dream of having one ever since I saw the page. lol). I really am amazed with this site and want to learn to make such beautiful site. I adore your skill very much! :)
