Normally I would have churned out half a dozen concepts before the real thing had been released, but not this year. Every time I sat down to play around with some ideas I couldn’t think of any. As a result I had a folder full of 1/5th complete designs that I just couldn’t muster the inspiration to finish. But earlier this week the real 2009 HRT Livery was unveiled (you can check it out at hrt.com.au if you wish) and with it came enough inspiration to finish one of my designs. With Garth Tander moving across from the Toll HSV Dealer Team there are rumours suggesting that Toll might go with him to HRT. Personally I don’t really know how likely it is, but then again who would have thought that the 2007 Champion would change teams either. Anyway, after many (not so great) attempts I’ve ‘finished’ a Toll HRT livery, I’m not sure whether I’m happy with it or not, its certainly a bit different, don’t know if thats a good thing or a bad thing.
UPDATE 29/12: So I had another go at a HRT/Toll livery last night, and came up with this, I think I like this one a little more, even if its not exactly what I was aiming for.

So it’s that time of year again, when the V8 Supercar silly season swings into gear and I get out Illustrator and start playing around with some designs. First off this year is a concept for Brad Jones Racing who, if all the whispering is to be believed, will be switching from Ford to Holden for 2008, and some rumours also mention a change of sponsorship from BOC to Bigpond.
Yet another livery I’ve been working on for a while, it’s a concept for one of the smaller teams in the V8 Supercar series, Autobarn Racing.
Here is another livery concept that I’ve been working on for a while in my spare time. Finally took the time tonight to finish it off. It’s a concept for TeamVodafone (formerly Team Betta Electrical), who will reveal their actual 2007 Livery at their team launch in Sydney early next week.
Here’s something else that I do to occupy my time. I design liveries for race cars, well I design the liveries that I would like to see anyway. They are just concepts, I just like to get my ideas out and onto the screen. This one is a concept for a Garry Rogers Motorsport VE V8 Supercar. For those international readers, V8 Supercars are kind of like DTM or NASCAR, bascially it’s the touring car championship here in Australia. Enough talk.
For those interested, I created this livery in Adobe Illustrator. Up until late last year I had done all my livery work in Paintshop Pro (like Photoshop but cheaper), but after a couple of Uni courses involving Illustrator its hard to go back.
